The new LEGO Disney Princess Beauty and the Beast Castle (43263) is a breathtaking four-storey display piece measuring 53cm in height.

With a cast of characters that includes all your favourites, it's the set of the year for fans of the original 1991 animation or the 2017 live-action adaptation starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.

It's an Adults Welcome build, so it's officially aimed at over-18s. But we think this would be a great in-depth project for parents to get the kids involved or even for experienced younger builders.

Four floors of play and display scenes

With nearly 3,000 pieces and 53cm in height, LEGO Disney's Beauty and the Beast Castle makes a fantastic display piece or play set.

The list of interior rooms includes the iconic ballroom scene (complete with a spinning floor) as well as a dining room and table with spinning platters. Belle's tower room has an enchanted rose element and hidden storage, and there's a removable grand staircase.

As you slide out the staircase, add the characters and spin the Minifigures on the dancefloor, it's giving Polly Pocket on a grand scale (90s kids will know...). It's especially cool how the set is so reversible - a fabulously detailed LEGO Disney display castle from the front, with access to all the playsets and posable scenes from the back.

Ten familiar faces in LEGO Minifigure form

A castle needs its residents to bring it to life, and LEGO Disney Beauty and the Beast Castle has everyone you'd expect, starting with Belle and The Beast minifigures.

You also get LEGO Minifigures of Gaston, LeFou and Maurice, plus characters of Lumiere, Fifi, Cogsworth, Chip and Mrs Potts.

Unique elements like the enchanted rose in its glass case add finishing touches that recreate some of the best-loved moments from the movie.

This is an intricate build with advanced techniques, but there are clear step-by-step instructions to get you through each stage without too much difficulty. Younger builders may need some help in places, as this is an 18+ 'Adults Welcome' set officially.

Detailed printed assembly instructions are included in the box, and there's also a digital version available via the LEGO Builder app, perfect if the whole family is working together on this set.
