Are Retired LEGO Minifigures Going To Cover Your Retirement?
MY PLASTIC PRECIOUS
LEGO Minifigures - remember when they basically all had the same faces? Just a couple of dots for the eyes and a curved line for the mouth, both the guys and gals were the same.
The first female head print was released in 1989, and three years later, in 1992, the first LEGO Minifigure female head with eyelashes was released. It wasn’t just the lovely ladies who received a makeover; the guys also got stubble, moustaches, and even eye patches.
Realistic skin tones then appeared in 2003, and just look at the details we have these days. LEGO Minifigures have come a long way and some are pretty valuable. With this in mind, we have listed five of the top twenty most valuable LEGO Minifigures that are available in worldwide circulation. These are not the top five as they would have been all Star Wars (hmmm, another blog, maybe!).
ARE YOUR LEGO MINIFIGURES WORTH A SMALL FORTUNE?
FINCH DALLOW - SW1005
£872.95
Finch Dallow, the last pilot of the victorious Resistance bomber fleet that defeated the Fulminatrix at the beginning of The Last Jedi, is a rare dude. His scarcity is because a year after LEGO 75188 Resistance Bomber was released, they switched one of the generic pilots out for the heroic Finch Dallow. The exact number of sets containing Finch is unknown, which adds to his notoriety.
LORD KRAKENSKULL - NEX098
£171.30
Lord Krakenskull is the evil tyrant in command of the Stone Monsters. He rides upon a rock beast that is named the Krakenbeast. The reason for everything being stone is that Lord Krakenskull accidentally petrified himself and his army by combining some Forbidden Powers. Lord Krakenskull was available in LEGO 70355 Aaron’s Rock Climber.
SHREDDER - TNT035
£106.96
Everybody knows who Shredder is, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arch nemesis. Cutting a menacing figure in his silver and purple get-up, adorned with spikes and blades, Shredder is not one to be trifled with unless you’re a Turtle, of course. This Shredder LEGO Minifigure was available with LEGO 79122 Shredder’s Lair Rescue.
VELMA DINKLEY - SCD005
£98.12
Velma is the brains of the Scooby-Doo Gang, easily recognisable by her bright orange sweater and signature square glasses. She also engaged in a relationship with Shaggy during the first season of Scooby-Doo (you learn something new every day). The Velma Dinkley LEGO Minifigure was available with LEGO 75904 Mystery Mansion. This set also contained Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby, but no Fred.
PROFESSOR BRAINSTEIN - UAGT034
£87.99
Before the attack on his lab, Professor Brainstein was an ally of the Ultra Agents, who had protected the Purple Portal Diamond. Antimatter attempted to lure him to the dark side, but Brainstein declined and decimated his lab and himself. All that was left of the Professor was his broken glasses on the floor. Six months passed, and he reappeared as a supervillain – Cyborg Brainstein. LEGO Professor Brainstein UAGT034 appeared in LEGO 70171 Ultra Agents Ultrasonic Showdown Set.
