LEGO ONE PIECE sets sail soon: Straw Hats at the ready!

It's almost time to join the Straw Hat Pirates with a new line of LEGO ONE PIECE sets on the horizon!

Get ready to build as a line of new LEGO ONE PIECE sets is about to drop, bringing the Great Pirate Era into your home in colourful brick form!

ONE PIECE is the world's best-selling manga title with more than half a BILLION issues sold, an anime series with over 1,100 episodes since 1999, and a live-action adaptation that ranked as Netflix's most-watched show in 2023.

With the second season already deep into the production process, new LEGO Netflix sets are coming that pay homage to the characters, ships and scenes that have made ONE PIECE such a well-loved series worldwide.

What should we expect?

Although there have been some rumours, there's no official announcement as yet that lists exactly what the new LEGO ONE PIECE sets for 2025 will be.

However, there are some clues in a recent page on the Netflix Tudum news site, which said: "Straw Hats, rejoice! ONE PIECE is getting its own LEGO sets and minifigures.". It added: "Soon, you'll get to see your favourite Straw Hat Pirates in LEGO Minifigure form for the first time ever, and experience iconic moments and scenes pulled straight from the hit series."

Because this is a LEGO Netflix partnership, you can expect the new sets to be based on the live-action show, which has been widely praised for its set design and engaging visuals.

One Piece - announcement of potential minifigures

Will there be ONE PIECE LEGO Minifigures?

Yes! It's a safe bet that any good-sized set will include some LEGO Minifigures, but the announcement by Netflix makes clear that this will definitely be the case.

We don't yet know exactly who will be appearing in Minifigure form, but the page mentions a number of key characters from the series:

  • Monkey D Luffy, the series protagonist and leader of the Straw Hat Pirates
  • Gold Roger, the infamous pirate whose treasure is known as the One Piece
  • Roronoa Zoro, Luffy's vice-captain with a three-sword fighting style
  • Nami, a navigator and cartographer who wants to map the entire world
  • Usopp, a gifted storyteller with ambitions to become a great pirate
  • Sanji, a chef who helped build the floating restaurant Baratie

With larger LEGO sets often including 10 or more Minifigures, it's likely that the list will be much longer than this - these are just the names mentioned by Netflix so far.

What sets and scenery can we expect?

Again, there's no official list of ONE PIECE LEGO sets just yet, but there is the promise of "iconic moments and scenes" along with a focus on the Straw Hat Pirates.

Because of this, we think some of the most likely candidates include:

The Going Merry

The Straw Hat Pirates' ship, known as Merry for short, and often thought of as an additional member of the crew. An obvious option for one of the first larger LEGO ONE PIECE sets.

The Baratie

A floating restaurant that sails the East Blue Sea, with four levels that would make for a great LEGO play set.

Partys Bar

One of the key land locations in the series, found in Foosha Village on Dawn Island. Arguably where the whole story starts - but no spoilers here!

A mix of styles and sizes

We think it's likely that there will be several sets of different sizes and complexity, including at least one Adults Welcome build aimed at over-18s.

This will probably have 2,500+ pieces and be designed more as a LEGO ONE PIECE display than an interactive set to play with.

But there will also most likely be several smaller sets with moving parts and interactive features, plus a line-up of LEGO ONE PIECE Minifigures, accessories and elements to bring it all to life.

It's a first foray for LEGO into the world of anime (which seems hard to believe!) so it will be great to see how well the live-action ONE PIECE characters, ships and locations translate into brick-built form.

LEGO's Great Pirate Era

These might be the first LEGO anime sets, but they're just the latest in a long line of great LEGO pirate sets.

LEGO Pirate Ship 31109

LEGO Pirate Ship 31109

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Pirate Ship (31109) is an iconic 1,264-piece build that can be constructed as a pirate ship, a grog-swilling pirates' inn, or a Skull Island play set.

With three pirate crew LEGO Minifigures, a skeleton, brick-built parrot and shark, a treasure chest, plus cutlass and flaming torch elements, it's packed with accessories to help flesh out any LEGO pirates display.

LEGO Movie MetalBeard's Sea Cow 70810

The LEGO Movie MetalBeard's Sea Cow 70810

The 2,741-piece LEGO MetalBeard's Sea Cow (70810) was one of the most impressive sets launched to tie in with The LEGO Movie in 2014.

It's since been retired, which is a shame for LEGO pirate builders as this set was crammed with elements including six cannons and two boxes of ammunition, two flint guns, two pistols and two swords, a treasure chest containing six gold coins, two red jewels and two green jewels, and lots more details that would no doubt work well with the new LEGO ONE PIECE sets.

LEGO Disney Moana's Adventure Canoe 43270

LEGO Disney Moana's Adventure Canoe 43270

OK, she's not exactly a pirate, but LEGO Moana's Adventure Canoe (43270) would be a fun way to have your favourite Disney character meet the Straw Hat Pirates in the kind of crazy crossover you can only do with LEGO!

Disney's Moana was released in 2016 but this 529-piece set is still available, mainly because it's based on the 2024 sequel. If the line where the sky meets the sea calls you, this cute LEGO Disney play set can help you to find out how far you'll go.

What do you think of the latest news? What anime series would you like to see in LEGO?
