Build Your Own LEGO Jurassic Park

Build Your Own LEGO Jurassic Park

In April, we previewed the new LEGO Jurassic World sets coming out this month, including some exciting options to create a dynamic and varied LEGO display of the famous fictional dinosaur-invested park on Isla Nublar.

There are plenty of examples online from die-hard LEGO collectors of the wonderful full-scale cities that can be built using LEGO Modular Building sets. But with the wealth of new and pre-existing Jurassic Park and Jurassic World-themed LEGO sets available, there has never been a better time to consider creating your own brick-built LEGO-city-style version of the famous park.

Join us as we highlight a few of our favourite LEGO options to get you started…

Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage 75936

Welcome To… Jurassic Park

There’s no point in building a replica Jurassic Park without starting with the iconic entry gates, which first appeared in the original 1993 classic when Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler and John Hammond’s grandchildren Lex and Tim took a fateful tour of the new attraction in tourist-themed jeeps.

Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage 75936 is the ideal LEGO set to recreate these imposing gates, with the added advantage that the set also includes a fearsome T-Rex model to bulk out your park’s less-than-safe wildlife options. The set also features minifigure versions of some of the characters previously mentioned. Check out our own treasured copy of this epic LEGO set pictured above!

This LEGO set is now retired, so you will have to hunt through the resale wilderness to find one…

Jurassic Park Facilities & Transportation

The first stop for park guests should be the visitor centre and nearby facilities. The upcoming Visitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack 76961 is ideal for this, as it recreates the original version of the visitor’s building, including fun additions such as the T-Rex skeleton, ‘When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth’ banner, and rooms such as the kitchen and lab. It also comes with a T-Rex and Velociraptor to add to your growing dinosaur herd. Giganotosaurus & Therizinosaurus Attack 76949 is another great option, adding a distinctive headquarters building with an observation tower, buggy car and helicopter. It also includes fully-posable Giganotosaurus and Therizinosaurus dinosaurs.

Jurassic World LEGO Sets

Plenty of Jurassic World LEGO sets include the vehicles you’ll need to add more automotive detail to your park, such as the Pyroraptor & Dilophosaurus Transport 76951 and Triceratops Pick-up Truck Ambush 76950, which both include quadbikes, pick-up trucks and similar off-roaders. You’ll also receive more dinosaur models and park staff minifigures. We also suggest checking out the T. rex & Atrociraptor Dinosaur Breakout 76948 release for an epic dinosaur-transporting truck and a useful marketplace enclosure terrain piece. The Quetzalcoatlus Plane Ambush 76947 LEGO kit will also add a sizeable industrial aeroplane to your park if you’re considering including a runway!

Jurassic Park LEGO Film Scenes

Recreating Jurassic Park Cinematic Scenes

There are so many memorable scenes from all the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies. Thankfully, LEGO has included many of these as buildable LEGO sets. If you want to include some familiar dioramas from the franchise for your friends and family to spot, then models such as the T. rex Breakout 76956 are perfect. This collectable Jurassic Park LEGO set includes the quirky tour jeep from the original film, a T-Rex, and, most importantly, the broken electrified fencing to add vital background detail to your park.

The Brachiosaurus Discovery 76960 is another must-have LEGO set as it includes the famous long-necked dinosaur and a large tree to add some unique flora to your park. Triceratops Research 76959 also recreates one of the most humorous scenes in the entire series – read about our thoughts on this one in our previous Jurassic Park blog.

LEGO Jungle Sets

Looking Beyond the Jurassic Park LEGO Theme

There’s nothing to say you have to rigidly stick to using the official Jurassic Park/World LEGO sets for your miniature park. A quick search for jungle-themed LEGO sets on the official website revealed plenty of LEGO City and similar-themed models that would be perfect for adding some unique transportation or terrain without losing that Isla Nubar feel.

We’d love to hear how your Jurassic Park builds are coming along in the comments – be sure to include some pictures! And if you're interested in seeing a truly epic fan interpretation of the park, check out this giant Jurassic Park build we spotted on Instagram as featured at Bricks Cascade 2023 at Oregon Convention Centre...
