Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City 76271 – Features
Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City 76271 is one of the most intriguing LEGO reveals we have seen in some time and one that feels like it came out of the blue to a certain extent. That said, now we’ve seen it, we can’t imagine any DC set we’d rather have on the purchase horizon. For hard-core fans of the Batman universe and the fan-favourite 90s cartoon (often referred to as Batman TAS or BTAS), the new set is an exciting prospect, with all the Gotham City locations and scenes you could wish for in a compact, detailed brick portrait, perfect for decorating empty wall spaces. Thanks to the flip-out stand included with the set, the city scene can be placed upright on a flat surface for those who don’t want to mount it on a wall.
The new model represents a collaboration between LEGO Group, Warner Bros, Discovery Global Consumer Products and DC, bringing a definitive skyline of the dark and atmospheric crime-ridden city from the Batman franchise. Buildings include Arkham Asylum and the Gotham City Court, and collectors will also discover the classic Batwing and Bat Signal decorating the skies above. There are also numerous other easter eggs to find and 15 special panels which open up to reveal hidden scenes (one example seen above in the form of the Bat Cave).
The set is aimed at AFOLs but should also appeal to younger fans who love the animated show, although it will likely cost them a large chunk of their yearly pocket money or several birthday presents. It is worth noting that the set advertises two sets of instructions so two people can work on the model simultaneously, making it a fun option for a parent and child to enjoy the build together.
