SUPER LIMITED SET GOES ON SALE AT THE LEGO HOUSE IN BILLUND, DENMARK

LEGO Unveils 5th Brick House Exclusive – LEGO Building Systems 40505

If you have time to take a trip to the “Home of the Brick” at the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark, don’t miss your chance to pick up the toy manufacturer’s latest limited brick house exclusive set – LEGO Building Systems 40505. This new release follows in a line of previous LEGO House exclusives, which included The Wooden Duck 40501 and Brick Moulding Machine 40502.

The model pays tribute to LEGO System, LEGO Technic and LEGO DUPLO, three key elements of the modern LEGO brand today. The limited-edition model won’t be available for long, and LEGO completionists who live too far away to make the journey to Denmark will soon have to scour resale sites to obtain the release at an inflated value.

LEGO Building Systems 40505 – Features

LEGO Building Systems 40505 honours the history of LEGO System, LEGO Technic and LEGO DUPLO with three mini-scale versions of a classic model using the core systems – Town Plan No. 1, a classic Car Chassis, and a vibrant DUPLO Train.

The backdrop behind the three mini-builds is based on the grey display wall in the real LEGO House’s History Collection. Hidden behind the wall, collectors will find alcoves containing tiny models of iconic sets from LEGO history, including DUPLO set 511, Technic Space Shuttle 8480, and even the Bionicle Tahu set 40581 – that’s right, 2000s kids: Bionicle has just become a LEGO classic of the past, which means you are officially as old as the rest of us now. Sorry!

Speaking about the new set, LEGO House Master Builder Stuart Harris said, “This year’s brief was ‘focus on the three core LEGO building systems’. With that in mind, I visited the History Collection in LEGO House and mentally noted the sets that caught my eye. The models we celebrate in a LEGO House Exclusive need to be significant milestones in LEGO history, so after discussing my favourites with our in-house historians, I go hands-on in the workshop and start building. LEGO Town Plan was always a favourite of mine, so including it in this year’s exclusive set was a no-brainer. I had more options for which Technic and DUPLO models to feature, but I ended up choosing the classic car chassis and the DUPLO train. All three models are LEGO fan favourites and are an integral part of the activities at LEGO House.”

If you missed your chance to purchase the set in person, the model has already appeared on eBay and similar resale sites.
