New Avatar LEGO Sets Revealed
It’s Time to Return to Pandora – But Have We Been Away Too Long?
The first trailer for James Cameron’s long-awaited sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, came out in May 2022, followed by the recent official trailer on 2nd November 2022. Before this, Avatar fans suffered an unprecedentedly long 13-year wait following the original film’s release in December 2009.
There were various official reasons given for the delay, from film technology delays and setbacks to more cynical motives debated by fans on Reddit and other platforms like Discord. In the director’s defence, they have been making a bunch of other Avatar sequel films simultaneously, though the question remains whether the wait has been too long and whether the world has moved on from Pandora. Can lighting strike again, making the Avatar sequel film as popular as the first instalment? We will find out soon.
In the meantime, LEGO has announced a new range of official Avatar: The Way of Water LEGO sets due for release in 2023 for fans to get excited about.
Let’s take a look at a few of the epic sets on offer…
Avatar Mako Submarine (75577)
Dive straight in (literally!) with this submarine representing Avatar’s established human-style invasive technology on the natural order of the planet of Pandora. The sub itself includes 3 propellers and 2 cockpits. The minifigures included with the set are RDA Quaritch, Neteyam, Ao’nung, and Spider, with three different coral seabed terrains.
Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit (75579)
We really like the look of this one, with a huge blue whale-type tulkun creature on which rides a Pandoran minifigure. This should be a popular set as the native sea creature is an eye-catching model with some nice elements and brick colours.
Skimwing Adventure (75576)
The Pandoran skimwings are like a cross between a dragonfly, a sea horse and a butterfly. With this set, you get a posable skimwing figure, Jake Sully minifigure, an alien coral reef and Tonowari minifigure. It looks like there are plenty of different ways to display this one, offering collectors plenty of creative choices.
Metkayina Reef Home (75578)
There are loads of detailed accessories and hidden objects to capture the imagination in this set. Avatar enthusiasts will love the Metkayina village home with canoe, torch, spear, food items and kitchen utensils. It also has minifigures of Tonowari, Neytiri, Ronal and Kiri.
When Is Avatar 2 Released?
You can catch the new film from the 16th of December 2022 in the UK.
